Want to make a film with a group? First Light Movies gives out money that can be used to help young people make films. First Light Movies don't give money directly to young people, but organisations that work with young people can apply for funding. So if you would like to make a film with a group, why not ask a teacher or someone who runs a club you go to after school to make an application? Your group leader will have to find some local professional filmmakers that you can work with (First Light Movies can help you with this) and they will have to fill out a form describing the film your group wants to make. First Light Movies will only give money to groups where the young people are the ones who have thought of the idea for the film and where young people make the film by operating the cameras and doing the editing etc. Ask your group leader to click here to find out more now!Want to make a film on your own? If you are aged 12 or under and you want to make a film then Film Street is for you! Visit The Street and explore each building to find out how movies are made. You can then play the games and download activities from the Scrapbook to practise your filmmaking skills. When you are ready to make a film with your video camera or mobile phone you can use the Filmmaker's Pack to help. You can also send us your films and we can show them in our online cinema.Visit The Street now! Why can't I apply for funding to make a film on my own? Making a film and managing a large amount of money is a big responsibility. We want to make sure that you can concentrate on thinking of ideas and producing your film, so we ask organisations and groups to apply for the money for you. But.... When you are 13 you can apply for money from the Media Box funding scheme. They run lots of competitions where you can win funding and support, check out www.media-box.co.uk to find out more.
